kettlebell swing with student
OK. This is Gary. He lives in my basement. He won’t leave. Please, please, help. 1-800-GET GARY OUT OF MY BASEMENT. Gary’s one of my oldest friends, one of my oldest students, and an amazing Kettlebell guy. Three point, watch this. Four on the three point. We’re going to do some review today. Back is straight, hips are tight, legs are straight. He’s going to jump forward. Jump forward. He’s going to swing. Ready? Go.
Snap the hips. Pop those hips. Look at those hips snap. Popping them out…boom! Real tight. Give it a shot. Go! And set this down. Good job.
Now we’re going to face the front. I want you to watch the dynamics again with Gary. Can you see me? Am I still in frame? You bet.
All right. Educate them. [hitting sound and sound of birds chirping] Swing position. From a cold swing position. Ready? Go. Taps, he primes the well. Pops the hips, boom, like that. Pop, relax. Pop, relax. Snap, relax, snap, relax, snap, and set this down.
Very good. You can see the dynamic of this, learning that form. Form is everything.
As Gary would always used to say, if you’ll turn around, it’s all about the core, Ron Morris. I know that guy.
Swings are pretty much all you use right now, right, Gar?
Gary: Basis of all the moves, yeah.
Ron: Yeah, you travel a lot. Gary travels a lot with his business, which is Northbound Creative.
Gary: Northbound Creative.
Ron: Go to the website, these guys are awesome. But he travels a lot, he does take this. If he doesn’t take that, he takes his perfect pushups. Right there, as you can see, he’s nice and out of breath. It’s very economical, very efficient and you can do it in a weird hotel room.
Not saying that you stay in weird hotel rooms, but he stays in weird hotel rooms.
Anything to add to that?
Gary: It’s a great move, it’s the basis of all the moves.
Ron: There you go. From the horses mouth. Not that he’s a horse. Well, at least, not on this program. We’re out of here.
