core stability on the slackline
The slackline is a great tool to use to work a variety of muscles. There are many simple exercises that you can do that will give you an intense workout and great gains. Check out this simple tip and start gaining strength and stability.
Ron Morris: It is another day. I just happen to have a lot of white shirts. We’re going to sit down. Yes, that’s right. Here at the Hanzo ranch, we’re going to let you sit down. We’re going to sit down on the slackline. Oh, Mr. Cameraman almost grabbed the slackline and flipped me right off. [laughs]
This doesn’t look like anything. I’m here to tell you that if you just practice this, you can already see what’s happening. If you start lifting…Oh, yeah! That’s super intense on the core itself. You want to breathe, relax your neck and shoulders, lift one side up then the other.
To show you a different perspective if you’re tall. Gary’s 6’7″. We’re going to have him come, and we’re going to trade. Don’t go anywhere. This is going to be good.
[clanging sound]
Ron: We’re going to trade. Here we go, and there he is. Hi, Gary.
Gary: Hi.
Ron: We’re going to have him…Very good. What’s that feeling like, brother?
Gary: It’s a really good stretch on your legs when you try and balance it.
Ron: Where you feeling it the most?
Gary: All core.
Ron: Nice. It is tough to do. Try bringing both up at the same time higher. Again. One more time.
[laughs] One more time. We’re going to trade. You ready?
Gary: Yeah.
Ron: Here we go. He’s walking right into the camera, that handsome mug.
[clanging sound]
Ron: There he is. There he is, and switch. You can see these slacklines. They’re pretty cool, man. The dynamic with the maces, which I really like, causes a juxtaposition in the way your body has to respond and react.
That’s how you get a cross-fit workout. You demand everything from your body at once. Going from station to station is not a cross-fit training. It’s called circuit training. You go beat up a tire, then you do a pull up, then you beat up a tire, then you do a military press.
This is not cross-training. Cross-training is this. This is cross-training. This is where you take elements you don’t even know about and you start dealing with them. That causes the body dynamic, and the body dynamic is what we seek.
We’re looking to get this virtual cold water shock to the body, so it has to respond, adapt. That’s what it’s all about, respond and adapt. The other thing that we’re going to probably do one more video on is taking a kettle bell and doing a swing, and coming right up here, and back in a swing, so you have this instability and then you have stability, instability, stability.
Cross-training…cross-pollinizing disciplines. That’s cross-training, cross fit. Cross that out. I’m cross.
For Emmylou Harris and myself, [laughs] I’ll see you later.
