BOSU fitness
The BOSU is a half-ball balance trainer. We’ve found it works your core even better if you flip it upside down!
You know what I’m doing? Pretending to surf. That’s why I have my stocking cap on, because it’s freaking 11 degrees outside my window. Eleven! Today we’re going to study the BOSU. Lookee here. A BOSU! Have you ever seen one of these?
A lot of people use them that way. We don’t use them that way. That would be the correct way to use them. Where’s the fun in that?
No, sir. What we’re going to do, turn this upside down. Turn that frown upside down.
I’m going to teach you how to get the most unbelievable core legwork out of it you never even knew you could get. No weights. Nothing up my sleeve.
Who was that? That was Rocky and Bullwinkle, right? What was that? My cameraman won’t answer me now and just makes me look like a fool.
Did I mention it’s 11 degrees out? I have the cap on. Yeah. A bad ass cap, too.
We have a BOSU upside down. Go online, find one of these. It’s a great tool to have. If this is the only thing in your gym, if you don’t have rings, nothing. But if you just have a BOSU, the next bunch of blogs is going to be all about how to use your BOSU. Super cool.
First of all, the most dangerous thing will be just actually accessing the BOSU, standing up on it. Now, you can see the dynamics here. Learning to just stand still.
That’s the BOSU creaking, not me. I promise, OK? All right. Let’s see if I can get you a side view here. You kind of shoot your feet out to the side. Whoa! See that? My hip flexors, knee flexors, ankles, shins, everything’s getting worked here.
Then when you decide to go down and surf or squat, look at the range of motion you get here. Also, the knees are protected because the forward momentum’s on the BOSU. The BOSU absorbs that kinetic energy on your knee. That’s right. I used a big word like kinetic energy.Oh yeah! I know some other big words, too, but I’m not going to use them all up today because then I’d be out of blogs.
Then you come back up. Look out, I think it’s a shark! Whoa!
We’re going to learn more about the BOSU in the next blog, but like I said, stepping off carefully, a gym, especially a home gym.
You can’t find this in a traditional gym, and if you do, they make some stupid course out of it. We’re having BOSU class. Yeah, we’ve got the most fantastic BOSU instructor, and we do these fantastic, blah blah, blah blah, blah blah. Buy a BOSU, flip it upside down and have some fun. Or flip it right side up and have some more fun.
My next blog, I’ll show you how to do some other weird stuff with it.
